Teammates avoid backing Woodson
Oakland Tribune: "It was hard to tell if the fractures in the Raiders' clubhouse generated by cornerback Charles Woodson's diatribe against coach Bill Callahan were worse than the four-game losing streak. For the most part, Raider players tried to sidestep the issue, particularly the one in which Woodson said Callahan had lost the respect of his players."

Don't lay defeat on Griese
Palm Beach Post columnist Charles Elmore&(registration required): "Look past the boos and the shouts of 'You stink, Griese!' The Miami Dolphins should stay with Brian Griese another week, because quarterback isn't the biggest problem. It's the offensive line."

Fill-in had quite a day -- now what?
San Francisco Chronicle columnist Gwen Knapp: "The Bay Area will endure a talk-radio-fueled battle over who belongs at quarterback that should turn as ugly as Rattay's debut was lovely. Because the 49ers now have a bye, the nastiness can continue for two weeks."

Brees gets yanked in Chargers' loss to Chicago
San Diego Union-Tribune: "Defensive end Marcellus Wiley said he spoke for many of his teammates yesterday when he said Doug Flutie should start ahead of Drew Brees on Sunday when the Chargers host the Minnesota Vikings in Qualcomm Stadium."

Cornerback Washington may have seen his last game in the Steelers' starting lineup
Beaver County Times: "In case you didn't notice, Bill Cowher made a lineup change late in the fourth quarter that suggests Dewayne Washington's days as a Pittsburgh Steeler are numbered."

Maybe the commentators were too busy laughing at Spurrier's antics and stupidity.
